Position Description:

Reporting to our Executive Director and working alongside our program team, the Director of Operations is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of a dynamic, growing Christian ministry, primarily in the areas of finance, human resources, and administration. As part of our strategic planning team, the Director of Operations works with our ED, program leadership and Board of Directors to establish and implement both long and short-term strategic priorities that will enable NorthEast to fulfill and grow our mission. The Director of Operations will ensure that the ministry is run in a manner that demonstrates integrity in managing our human and financial resources, and for adhering with both external regulations and internal policies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and administration of finance, payroll, information systems, risk management and human resources functions in a small but growing operation;
  • Vendor relationships: Work with existing vendors (CPAs/auditors, bank, printers, insurance, etc) to negotiate and maintain high-quality, cost-effective services;
  • Property management: Manage lease agreements, insurance and physical needs of multi-venue operation and multi-vehicle transportation fleet;
  • Information systems: Working with IT consultant and NorthEast staff, provide oversight, direction and coordination of organization-wide technology planning and utilization, to include integration of information systems, voice and data networks and telecommunications as well as CRM and donor development software.
  • Finance: Work with our Treasurer, outside accountants and bookkeeping staff to manage and oversee accuracy and integrity of all accounting functions, including A/R, A/P payroll and benefits, general ledger, financial statements, tax reporting and audit. Establish procedures, checks and balances to ensure finances are protected and employees handling finances are properly trained and supervised;
  • Human resources: Oversee hiring of personnel, maintenance of HR records, establishment of policies and procedures to protect the ministry from risk and ensure the safety of volunteers, staff and constituents. Develop clear job descriptions for each staff position. Establish employee expectations and evaluate performance results in a regular, systematic manner. Ensure that employee handbook is accurate and updated on a regular basis;
  • Regulatory oversight: stay informed and up to date on changes within the legal, regulatory, economic and technology environments which may affect the organization.


Job Requirements:

  • Confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; active member of a gospel-centered, local Christian church; demonstrates ongoing growth in Christian maturity
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, non-profit management or related field
  • 3-5 years in a senior management position in at a non-profit or parachurch organization
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and relationship-building skills; able to clearly articulate the distinctive qualities of NorthEast’s mission, vision and ministry model
  • Proven experience in scaling a multi-site organization and a demonstrated ability to both lead and build the capabilities of a diverse, mission-focused team
  • Understanding of CRM, fundraising software and effective donor development and retention strategies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to work through complex business issues and make decisions quickly, able to respectfully negotiate and resolve differences for the success of all involved

Position Description:

As pandemic-related restrictions begin to ease, we are seeking an Area Manager to lead and expand ministry operations in the Greater Long Beach area. These include oversight of in-person Bible studies at various programs throughout the week along with community gatherings, discipleship groups and other program-related activities. The Area Manager will work with NorthEast staff and volunteers to ensure these activities are carried out in a way that welcomes, engages and motivates people to return. The Area Manager leads the charge in reaching out to new programs, churches and individuals, building up a strong network of resources and operational support. This position requires a leader that is energetic, results-driven, adaptable and willing to go the extra mile.

The Area Manager will report to our Director of Outreach and Program Development. This is a full time, hands-on position with a schedule that involves working approximately three evenings a week and an occasional weekend.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain and expand partnerships with programs, churches and other organizations aligned with our mission, creating a strong and diverse network of support the ministry;
  • Provide broad oversight of weekly activities, ensuring adequate staff and volunteer coverage;
  • Oversee all aspects of a weekly community gathering, working alongside NE staff on scheduling and logistics and ensuring all operational positions are covered ( e.g. transportation, food, childcare, and all aspects of the evening service);
  • Develop, equip and manage a strong team of volunteers;
  • Engage with our community in a way that values each one and motivates them to come back;
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date record of all programs, church partners, volunteers, etc.
  • Support children’s ministry team by implementing policies and procedures that guarantee the safety of all children, including background checks for all staff/volunteers over the age of 16
  • Help create job descriptions for all volunteer positions and hold training/orientations as needed
  • Being able to teach the Word of God is desired but not required for this position

Position Description:

Our Communication and Development Manager has wide-ranging responsibility for advancing our brand, capturing the interest of a broad demographic, and creating opportunities to promote, sustain and expand the mission. The position requires creativity, teamwork, and the ability to produce quantifiable results. Above all, this individual will represent NorthEast in a way that embodies our Christian values and demonstrates strong social acumen in a variety of settings and people groups.


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Create and oversee an annual fundraising plan that aligns with our ministry strategic plan that includes a blueprint to expand support from individuals, foundations and corporations.
  • Help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals through a relationship with our organization.
  • Identify and build relationships with new and prospective donors.
  • Generate ideas and create campaigns that increase revenue and strengthen donor loyalty.
  • Manage the core functions of our CRM software; oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing.
  • Working alongside a volunteer fundraising committee, oversee the organization and management of special events.
  • Working alongside our grant writer, develop and track proposals and reports for foundation and corporate fundraising.
  • Identify opportunities and create compelling and timely communications, via print, conventional and social media, that engage and attract broad demographic.
  • Plan, create and oversee the design, content and production of marketing materials and special event collateral.
  • Communicate with staff, board of directors and partners to promote consistent messaging and capture stories that reflect our impact.


Job Requirements:

  • A strong Christian faith, evidenced by an honest personal testimony and a lifestyle that points to Christ.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, design skills, including the ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Ability to multi-task and monitor several projects in a deadline-sensitive environment.

We partner with treatment programs, sober living homes, shelters, safe houses and other service providers throughout Orange County and Long Beach to offer hope through the Gospel message, belonging through a shared journey, and tools to equip each person to step into their purpose. Position Description:

Working alongside our ministry team, the Re-Entry Coordinator will help develop and implement a biblically based program that integrates the discipleship process with the transition to employment for those whose criminal histories or lack of translatable skills present barriers to meaningful employment. This individual will support each participant’s progress throughout the training period and into their time of employment. In addition, they will be responsible for expanding our reach within the business community to raise awareness and develop job opportunities. 


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Adaption of a curriculum that addresses key personal qualities, habits and conduct needed for job success, applied within a biblical framework.
  • Development and oversight of the participant screening process;
  • Engagement of outside speakers and industry professionals to address topics relevant to job seekers;
  • Raising awareness among programs NorthEast serves or partners with;
  • Actively seeking support from business and civic leaders, trade and professional groups, and others;
  • Identification of community based resources available to support the transition process;
  • Establishing relationships with local employers, with emphasis on those that are felony-friendly;
  • Creation and management of a reporting system that reflects individual progress and measures impact.


Job Requirements:

The Re-Entry Coordinator will first and foremost demonstrate a strong Christian faith, evidenced by an authentic personal testimony and sound biblical knowledge. Their faith will be accompanied by a passion to bring the Gospel message to the marginalized and outcast, and to empower people to embrace change within the context of a loving, supportive community. Further requirements include:

  • Prior experience with re-entry or job preparedness programs serving our population, and an understanding of the issues and concerns involved in the transition process;
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with community resource providers and local employers;
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail;
  • Ability to articulate the vision and mission of NorthEast in a way that produces support and investment from stakeholders;
  • Experience in the area of case management, career counseling, job search techniques;
  • Ability to demonstrate strong initiative and produce measurable results.

Position Description:

The Outreach and Teaching Associate is a full-time, high energy position and will report to our Director of Ministry Operations.  The position is highly visible and combines the development and advancement of critical ministry partnerships with day-to-day outreach activities at the various programs and venues where NorthEast serves.  Activities include planning, teaching or assisting with Bible studies, discipleship groups, community gatherings and special events.  This individual will reflect the DNA of our ministry, relate to the population we serve and exhibit a burden to share the Gospel with people who can be difficult but are hungry for truth.  We require an activator/connector who can push through challenging circumstances in a way that honors Christ and welcomes the outcast.  The work schedule varies from week to week and involves evening activities.  


Areas of Focus:

  • Outreach:  Help the ministry gain access and come alongside those living in programs, motels or working on the streets of Orange County and Long Beach.  
  • Promotion:  Build awareness and create opportunities for churches, social service providers and other community organizations to support our mission.
  • Teaching:  Lead or assist with Bible studies for various programs served by NorthEast, either virtually or in person.  Lead or assist with discipleship groups and leadership development activities.
  • Relationship building:  Build trust and develop authentic connections with those who are wary of the institutional church.


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Development and follow-through on an outreach plan in conjunction with ministry operations and teaching staff, ensuring objectives are fully met or exceeded;
  • Planning and/or leading engaging Bible studies that are relatable, practical and biblically sound;
  • Maintaining a database of resources available to assist with needs such as drug treatment/recovery, shelters, community organizations, safe houses.
  • Developing opportunities for churches and other partners to support the goals and vision of NorthEast through volunteer engagement and other support strategies;
  • Maintaining records that accurately reflect participation and attendance at all NorthEast activities


Job Requirements:

  • A strong, vibrant Christian faith evidenced by a compelling personal testimony;
  • Ability to relate, through personal or ministry experience in the areas of substance abuse, incarceration/re-entry, sex trafficking, homelessness or underserved people highly preferred.
  • A track record of mission involvement reaching marginalized and vulnerable people; 
  • A love of Scripture and a desire to share it in a way that affirms the dignity of those unfamiliar with the Bible, without watering down the truth;
  • Effective organizational and planning skills; attention to detail; 
  • Ability to embrace diverse cultures and ethnicities;
  • Must model a mature Christian faith in one’s attitude, speech and behavior.
  • Team player: must have a willingness to pitch in when, where and however needed.

Ministry Overview

Position Description

Worship interns are essential members of our ministry staff, responsible for ensuring that meaningful, high quality worship is part of our community gatherings, Bible studies and other activities, in a variety of settings. Following a year in which these took place primarily online, the worship intern will engage, model and lead our community to enter in and respond to the presence of the Holy Spirit, as we resume in-person activities. Additionally, this individual will embrace the mission of NorthEast, participate as part of our community and minister in a relational way to those we serve beyond the worship stage. The worship intern will exemplify a life set apart for Christ in their personal habits, discipline, relationships, and priorities. This internship will require a commitment to leading worship 1-2 evenings a week depending on scheduling and availability.


Specific Responsibilities to Include:

  • Model and lead authentic worship in an invitational style – drawing people in, using creativity, encouraging participation, and pointing them to Jesus.
  • Reports to and maintains communication with the Worship Lead regarding scheduling, availability, and debriefing of Bible studies or worship gatherings
  • Bi-weekly meetings with the Worship Lead for check-ins and worship/spiritual formation
  • Work with the Worship Lead to plan and establish weekly/monthly plan for worship, keeping in mind teaching themes, scheduling issues, and working closely with pastors, teachers and coordinators of each gathering or Bible study.
  • Ensure lighting, sound, video, worship software and other equipment are in proper working order and ready for each gathering.
  • Create and distribute set lists with chart attachments as needed for each worship event (print and online); maintain song database
  • Assist in planning, implementing and participating worship for special events such as church outings, fundraising events, conferences and other activities.


Requirements:

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passion to serve Him through one’s giftedness.
  • Agreement with the mission, vision, and Statement of Faith of NorthEast of the Well.
  • Strong record of developing and growing an effective team of musicians, singers and support staff.
  • A deep knowledge and desire to share God’s Word.
  • Experience as lead vocalist, excellent skills on at least one instrument (guitar or keyboard).
  • Ability to coordinate and effectively lead a worship team.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Faithful, available, teachable.
