NorthEast of the Well

Please watch as Shaneen Coston shares the story of how she came to love Christ, and how she became motivated to spread the gospel with those who feel hopeless.

She was privileged to join the online service for one of our church partners, Trabuco Presbyterian Church, to give her testimony on how God has transformed her life.

Trabuco Presbyterian has become more and more involved with NorthEast, as the faithful volunteers from their women's bible study group provide meals and desserts for the women at Vera's Sanctuary (a program we serve that helps women coming out of human trafficking). NorthEast was bringing in-person bible studies twice a month, but due to COVD restrictions, now continues to connect with the women via zoom meetings.

Trabuco Presbyterian - THANK YOU!

If you’d like to donate or get involved with NorthEast of the Well, please go to our website - northeastofthewell.org/ - or call our office at 949-515-9355.

“One of us can’t do everything, but all of us can do something.”

FACT: Human traffickers are finding new ways to exploit victims.
MYTH: Human trafficking is decreasing because we are home in quarantine.
FACT: Vulnerable communities are more vulnerable than ever.

Today, NorthEast joined in on a peaceful, socially distanced demonstration in light of “national child trafficking awareness day.” Now and always, we stand against human trafficking.

Special shout out to the following NE supporters:
Gail (photo 1), who takes part in our annual Grand Canyon missions trip with Veterinary Christian Foundation. Thank you for standing with us today!
Susie, a dear friend of Gail's, also marched with us. We are so thankful for her involvement. In addition, Melanie Bruechert (and her two daughters), joined us! Melanie has been a NE supporter and volunteer since before 2011! Last but not least, Stacia (NE staff member) marched in San Clemente!

The opportunity to march in Newport and San Clemente was a blessing. We are grateful for our team and all those who take A STAND AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING!

During a meal donation to Casa Teresa, coordinated by NorthEast and Canyon Hills Church, we captured some thoughts from Lisa Wood (CEO of Casa Teresa) on her relationship with NorthEast and how we have made an impact on their residents.

Mission of Casa Teresa: To provide pregnant women in crisis a loving home to begin their healing journey.

We continue to feel so much gratitude for our connection with Casa Teresa and Canyon Hills!

We are so grateful for our partnership with Serving USA!

Our very own team member, Bethany Devine, was invited to share her personal testimony and lead worship at FCCA (First Congregational Church of Anaheim).

We are so grateful to have them as one of our long-time Church Partners. Before the pandemic, we held our large Monday night gatherings at their church & they have supported NorthEast in a variety of other ways. To still have such a strong connection with them during this season is a blessing.

*Please see marker, 11:12, for the introduction of Bethany's segment.*

"This season of life will not go to waste, God is working."

Pastor Laura Suk speaks on what NorthEast is doing during this season, as well as our connection with Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church, as they have been a faithful partner of ours since 2016. We are so grateful for all they have done and continue to do for us and the programs we serve. Specifically, we are thankful for their collaboration with us in cooking a wonderful meal for Casa Teresa last week, a recovery home for pregnant women in crisis.

FOR NORTHEAST TO CONTINUE HELPING PEOPLE LIKE JORDAN, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

“I attended college on a full ride sports scholarship. After an injury, I was given a prescription for pain pills. This slowly took me down a road I was NOT prepared for. By the time I left college, I was a full-blown heroin addict. I could not wake up in the morning; could not brush my daughter's hair; could not function without having heroin inside my body. I cried out: “Lord I beg you to take this addiction from me...” A week later I was found, nodded out behind the wheel of my moving car, with my innocent baby in the backseat.

During my very first week at Flossie Lewis Treatment Center in Long Beach, I met NorthEast. They never failed to pick us up and take us to Bible study and Wednesday gatherings! There were moments that I wanted to leave treatment so bad, moments where I wanted to give up, but they gave me faith and changed my entire outlook. Making God the center of my recovery has kept me sober, and this is all because of NorthEast. Even through the pandemic, they are making sure no one is going to fall off track. Every single day they are reaching out through Zoom, prayer messages, and making a difference in so many ways. They helped me get a job last year at Madison Travel, an agency that helps organize their "Jail to Jerusalem" trips to Israel every two years; I've been there ever since. I may not know what the future holds, but I know it has happiness. I want to spread the Word and help people, the way that NorthEast has helped me. I'm proud to say I've been sober for a year and 4 months! That's a life worth living!" - Jordan

It is not only our joy, but our privilege to help those who are hungry for transformation, desperate to connect, and eager to rebuild their lives through Christ. Please support this call with a much-needed gift of any size so that we may continue to bring God’s Word into the hardest places.

Still Giving Back - Still Feeling Blessed 💙

NorthEast of the Well coordinated another donation delivery to one of our programs - a safe house in Stanton for men. The delicious goodies were provided by one of our wonderful volunteers, Terry Walls, through Trellis (a nonprofit dedicated to helping communities and bringing ministries together).

As we make these donations... we are reminded:
🙌 He is a God of exceedingly great and precious promises (2 Peter 1:4)⁣
⁣🙌 He is a light that shines in a dark place (2 Peter 1:19)⁣
🙌 He is a God that helps us in distress (1 Samuel 7:12)⁣Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post

We are blessed to be ministry partners with FCCA and deeply grateful to still be connected with them throughout this season.

We teamed up with Lydia House (LB Rescue Mission) to donate to Angel Steps!
~~ "Giving is not just about making a donation, it is about making a difference."

It was a blessing to donate to Angel Steps yesterday, as they are a recovery home for women struggling with addiction. Lydia House (Long Beach Rescue Mission), teamed up with us for this donation — as they made delicious desserts for us to deliver to Angel Steps. It is nothing less than inspiring that one of our programs has looked beyond themselves to provide for a different recovery program!

DEVOTION TIME 📖🙌

An encouraging and honest word from Shaneen - NorthEast Re-Entry Program Coordinator - to our NorthEast family.

"The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!”

More Donations from NorthEast to our programs! 💙

NorthEast of the Well is so grateful to donate meals, personalized bibles, and critical supplies to our various programs and outreaches especially during this time!

Rhino House (a sober living for men that we have been bringing bible studies and dinner to for almost two years) were the recipients of our donations last week — we loved the opportunity to see their faces and catch up with each of them as we dropped off pizzas, deserts, bibles, etc. While social-distancing, Alex (NorthEast Men’s Teaching & Discipleship Associate), Sarah (Ministry Program Administrator), and Bobby (long time Newport community member) coordinated the donation drop off!

At NorthEast, we acknowledge that the act of giving first started with God, and that our own gifts are a way to honor Him and to extend His love to others. We hope that through these donations, our community members will experience the joy and love of Christ.Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post

We hope that through these donations, our community members will experience the joy and love of Christ.Image attachmentImage attachment

NorthEast of the Well

✞ HELP US REACH OUR GOAL!!! ✞

#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of unity taking place on MAY 5 (TOMORROW), as a response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

While #GivingTuesdayNow reminds us of the importance of generosity during this global pandemic, it also reminds us of gratitude. Are you thankful to be at home, safe and healthy during quarantine? Consider what it’s like not having a home, family, or financial stability during this crisis. This is what many of our NorthEast community members are currently facing.

We may not be able to gather in groups during this season of social-distancing, but that does not stop NorthEast from supporting, encouraging, and giving back to our various outreaches and programs! Even with the current limitations, we continue to bring much needed meals, personalized Bibles, and critical supplies to the places and people we serve. Now more than ever, we are called to bring God's Word to the people who need it most.

While our costs and needs have stayed the same, our funding has decreased significantly since the start of the crisis - this is our moment of transformation. TOMORROW (or now), please consider making an urgent, special gift of $35, $50, $100, or whatever amount suits you. In doing so, you will be providing NorthEast with the resources needed to continue transforming lives from the inside out.

NorthEast of the Well

WHERE THE NAME "NORTHEAST OF THE WELL" COMES FROM 📖✝️💧

Broken down by the founder of NorthEast, herself: Pastor Laura Suk.

"Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people: Come, see about a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
- John 4:28-29
