Highlights of the week:
.
.
.
• A month ago we had baptisms for one of the sober living programs we partner with. Here is a testimony of one of the men from the program recovering from addiction: "I was in the war...during that time I pretty much denounced God from everything I had seen and went through. They put me on prescription medication because I got hurt…and I did that for 10 years…then I turned to crystal meth. This is my third program...I had it in my mindset that I had to do something different for my life - for me and for my children. I have been at the program for 110 days roughly, NorthEast of the Well came down for Bible study like they do every week. Through all the treatment I finally figured out I needed to get things right...to get spiritually connected with the Lord to be happy because I was living life not happy. And now I am in a happy place. I go to the ministry here as much as possible, Sundays I go to church...and 3 weeks ago I got baptized!"
.
.
.
• In that same sober living home was a woman who was graduating from the program to move back home and she was baptized that day. The joy and love of the Lord continues to fill her. She sent us a message to let us know “I’m loving life”. We are thrilled and rejoicing with her!

.
.
.
.
.
Another woman who was in a program in Long Beach and has since graduated from the program and moving forward! A couple weeks ago her daughter asked us to pray that they would find an apartment to live in. Just a few days later we received this text…”What have I been praying for? I move in tomorrow but I sign the lease after work and get my keys. MY KEYS. It happened so slow but so fast it’s crazy.” God is so good and hears the prayers of His children!Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post

NorthEast of the Well exists to bring the love and hope of Jesus Christ to those who are on the verge of trusting Him. We host weekly Bible studies at residential programs for those struggling with addiction and recovery and we love when community members come back to share the impact God has had on their lives. Here are three highlights from this week:
.
.
.
Long Beach: This community member has been attending our Monday night gatherings and she says being at the service on Monday nights has “reignited her peace” in the Lord.
.
.
.
Trabuco Canyon: Recently graduating from one of our programs where we bring a Bible study to women who have been trafficked or come out of drug addiction, this young woman lost her baby due to her drug addiction and went down a path of destruction. Now, she is leading others to Jesus & getting involved with NorthEast. She will begin helping us with Spanish translation at one of our Bible studies.
.
.
.
Orange: This young woman recently completed the first phase of her program and has been promoted to the second phase. Although she has faced countless obstacles like being trafficked & struggling with addiction, she has not wavered in her faith. She continues to attend our weekly Bible study, share her faith, and encourages others in her program. After meeting Gail (Pastor of Teaching & Discipleship) and attending the Bible studies this is what she had to say, " She has opened my eyes to this new approach to motherhood, life, and a daughter of God."Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post

We have been posting about baptism quite a bit lately. What is baptism? Water baptism is the next step after receiving Jesus as your Lord and Savior. We like to say it’s an outward expression of an inward change! When we accept Jesus into our hearts the Bible says the old has passed and the new has come; being baptized in water is symbolic to dying to our old self, and rising back up brand new. Last week we had the joy of baptizing four people from our community who have been walking with the Lord and were ready to make the decision to die to their old ways and walk forward with the Holy Spirit as their helper! We are so proud of each one of them!Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post ... See moreSee less

We are filled with so much JOY this week as NorthEast had the privilege to baptize individuals from one of the programs we partner with. Vanessa has been attending our weekly Bible study at our partner program, Pacific Shores, and this week she made a decision to get water baptized! When asked why she wanted to get baptized she said: “I want to give up my old way of living: giving up jealousy, giving up pride” and clinging to Jesus as her Father. We are so proud of Vanessa!Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post ... See moreSee less

Myth: Human trafficking is only happening in 3rd world countries.
Fact: Human trafficking is happening right here in Orange County…and all over the United States. Today some of our staff joined @forgottenchildreninc on their march to spread awareness about human trafficking here in Orange County. Their goal is to end human trafficking one community at a time! People are priceless, NOT for sale!Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post

Everyday should be National Day of Prayer 🙏🏼 Yesterday, NorthEast joined with the Costa Mesa community at City Hall to ask God to move & work in our city, state & nation. “We believe that through prayer in Jesus’ name things change in the here & now. God is eager to hear us & meet us in our supplication. We are invited into the redemptive process of humanity, & we can participate by speaking to God in UNITY.”Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post ... See moreSee less

The Meaning Behind Our Name ~~

Our name comes out of the Bible, John chapter 4, where an outcast Samaritan woman has a life-changing encounter with Jesus at a well just outside of her town at mid-day. Crossing barriers of culture, class, gender and religion, Christ met her with intention. He validated her worth, even as he unveiled her brokenness. Responding to his offer of “living water,” she returns to her community, Sycher, located northeast of the well, telling people to “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” (John 4:28 NIV) And many came, saw for themselves, and believed.
