Here's the latest happenings.

Vanessa has been attending our weekly Bible study at our partner program, Pacific Shores, and this week she made a decision to get water baptized! When asked why she wanted to get baptized she said: “I want to give up my old way of living: giving up jealousy, giving up pride” and clinging to Jesus as her Father. We are so proud of Vanessa!Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post ... See moreSee less

Myth: Human trafficking is only happening in 3rd world countries.
Fact: Human trafficking is happening right here in Orange County…and all over the United States. Today some of our staff joined @forgottenchildreninc on their march to spread awareness about human trafficking here in Orange County. Their goal is to end human trafficking one community at a time! People are priceless, NOT for sale!Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post

Everyday should be National Day of Prayer 🙏🏼 Yesterday, NorthEast joined with the Costa Mesa community at City Hall to ask God to move & work in our city, state & nation. “We believe that through prayer in Jesus’ name things change in the here & now. God is eager to hear us & meet us in our supplication. We are invited into the redemptive process of humanity, & we can participate by speaking to God in UNITY.”Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post ... See moreSee less

The Meaning Behind Our Name ~~

Our name comes out of the Bible, John chapter 4, where an outcast Samaritan woman has a life-changing encounter with Jesus at a well just outside of her town at mid-day. Crossing barriers of culture, class, gender and religion, Christ met her with intention. He validated her worth, even as he unveiled her brokenness. Responding to his offer of “living water,” she returns to her community, Sycher, located northeast of the well, telling people to “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” (John 4:28 NIV) And many came, saw for themselves, and believed.

Legacy Women’s Conference at FCCA!

NorthEast is feeling so grateful to have had the opportunity to join with Pastor Grettel Aumua (host) from Girl Talk OC Ministry, and Apostle Vanisia Tapia (speaker) from Sustaining Fires Ministries!

This gathering of like-minded women was so very special, as we were able to speak on our Mission, meet various ministry groups, hear a powerful Spoken Word, and join arms as daughters of Christ.

FAITHFUL ON THE FRONTLINES📍

Our battle against human trafficking speaks to the heart of our mission at NorthEast — to bring God’s Word into hard-to-reach, dark, desperate places.

To get involved, learn more, or sign up to join our street outreach team, visit — NorthEastoftheWell.org/trafficking

“A significant number of those we serve have been trafficked during their lifetime. This is one of the many reasons why we have chosen to step onto the frontlines of trafficking sites. On the streets of LA County on any given night, we meet with over 30 girls being trafficked; shivering, barely clothed, waiting for the next “John” to objectify them. We are putting our boots on the ground to empower the women by showing up as: “The Church,” praying with them, and offering next-step solutions as well as care-packages that assure them they are seen, known and loved by God.”

Truths about the Sex-Industry:
* 89% want to escape but see no options for survival
* 90% of women in sex industry were sexually abused as children
* More women in sex industry today than any time in history
* 84% of women in prostitution are under control of a pimp/trafficker
* Mortality/death rate is 240x more in comparison to other professions
* Women in the sex commercial industry have PTSD similar to veterans
* ½ of all victims are minors; 70% of them being children from the foster care systemPhotos from NorthEast of the Well's post

We are blessed to be working alongside Changing Strides to empower children in our community through equine therapy!

A handful of kids ages 6-14 from the NorthEast community left the therapy horses feeling full of excitement. Beyond that, they gained insight on problem solving and social skills, self worth affirmations, academic achievement, and more. 🐴🐴🐴Photos from NorthEast of the Well's post

CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY THIS MONTH & EVERY MONTH!

"I pray for the day when people of color will have an equal seat at the table and not feel the need to create their own table just to be heard. Because on that day I would have seen manifested what I have prayed for years, “God, let Your Kingdom come, let Your will be done, concerning racial justice, on earth as it is in heaven.”

THE JANICE WE KNOW TODAY 💫 A STORY OF TRUE TRANSFORMATION:

"I was 14 when I started using meth and drinking alcohol. My dad was deported to Mexico when I was 10; I have not seen him since. My mom was an addict - still is. I was left to raise myself, so drinking and drugs became a way to escape. After my little sister was born with drugs in her system, we spent a year in foster care before going to live with my grandma. But my addiction and sexual promiscuity didn't stop. When I got pregnant, I wanted to change. I got sober, but fell right back into my addiction by the time my son was two. For years, we were homeless, sleeping in cars, motels, hanging out with the wrong people. I would drink, black out and not remember where I was. I was having sex, sometimes forcibly, with men I didn't know.

After many violent encounters with my son's father, I knew I had to get out. I entered Heritage House, a recovery program for women and children, but left after two days. I put myself back into a vicious cycle and before long, I was pregnant again. Having no where else to go, I returned to Heritage House. That's when God met me through NorthEast of the Well. At the very first Bible study, my mind began to shift - I began to see that change was possible. When NorthEast gifted me with a beautiful new Bible - another first! - I felt a ray of hope.

For once in my life, I put my sons' needs ahead of my own and made the decision to place them in foster care while I began a journey of recovery. Even though giving them up was the hardest thing I'd ever done, NorthEast was there every step of the way. NorthEast would call, checking in, reminding me that God had a plan for us. In 2019, when I got baptized at NorthEast, I realized my life really HAD changed. From that moment forward, I made a promise to myself and publicly, to follow and live for Christ.

Today, my boys are back with me and we live at Eli House, a residential program for women and children. I am learning to be the mother they need and deserve; I even started my first job! NorthEast of the Well has been a lifeline for us - I am on Zoom every Monday evening for the NorthEast service. I love the worship - it feels like those songs were made for me! I want to be like the NorthEast women, setting an example of what's possible with God. Recently I was asked to write some scripture cards for NorthEast to hand out - I am blessed to serve, even in small ways. "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" (Jer. 29:11) These are the words I live by."
